Difference between Round Robin Multiple and Simple Round Robin lead distribution

There are several different ways to configure lead distribution rules in BATS to give you the power and flexibility that you need in order to manage inbound lead distribution in your organization. This article explains the difference between two common methods of lead distribution that produce different results as explained below.

 Round Robin Multiple (RRM)
RRM uses the setting from User’s Settings page called “Weight for Lead Distribution” to determine the priority at which the users will receive leads.  This allows you to prioritize lead delivery for some users over others. So, if you have 2 users, both of whom are set to a daily limit of 20 leads but you want one user to receive leads faster than the other user throughout the day, you would add a higher weight multiplier for the user that’s going to receive leads faster, which will calculate higher Weight for Lead Distribution for that user.  RRM method always tries to even out the distribution based on the Weight for Lead Distribution, so if you add a new user to your organization mid-day, RRM will adjust the distribution and will deliver leads faster for this new user in order to “catch up” the user with everyone else.

 Simple Round Robin (SRR)
SRR delivers leads to all enabled users who have not reached their daily limit in a round robin fashion. This method ignores the Weight for Lead Distribution and delivers leads in round robin fashion for all users until the daily limit has been reached. If a new user is added to the system, they would just be inserted into the round robin queue and would receive the next lead when their turn comes.

It is important to understand that in BATS you can create multiple lead distribution rules based on different criteria.
For example, you can create one lead distribution rule to distribute all leads from your website using the RRM method, and another rule to distribute leads from a paid lead source using the SRR method.

Keep in mind that for the purpose of determining who get the next inbound lead, BATS takes into consideration all leads that are received from all lead sources. So, if a user receives a lead from a rule that is using the RRM method, then this user will be moved to the back of the queue for the other rule which uses the SRR method.  This approach results in a more evenly distributed leads amongst all your users/agents.
