How to get DKIM Keys for BATS email service and add DKIM Keys to DNS

DKIM Keys are required by many email service providers (Gmail, Yahoo Mail, etc) in order to authenticate the sender of email messages when the messages are sent via third party email systems such as BATS.  Please follow the instructions below to configure DKIM Keys for your organization to work with BATS email sending service.

  1. Navigate to System Setting in BATS and click on Request DKIM Keys button in the DKIM KEYS section:
  2. Enter your company's domain name when asked and click "Get Keys" button
  3. After a few seconds the page will display a list of DNS entries that you must add to the DNS system for your domain (consult your IT expert or Web expert on how to do this).
    1. Here is a link to Go Daddy article that explains how to do this on their DNS system: https://www.godaddy.com/help/add-a-cname-record-19236
  4. Click on the copy button next to each entry and enter it in your DNS system, when finished close the dialog window
  5. In the DKIM KEYS section in System Settings you will now see a list of DNS
  6. After you add the DNS entries to your DNS system, click on Verify DKIM Keys button
  7. Refresh the System Settings page and check to make sure that all entries in DKIM KEYS section are showing "Verified" in the Status field
    1. If some or all are still showing "Not Verified" status, please double check that your DNS entries were correctly added to your DNS system and then click Validate DKIM Keys button again.
  8. Once all entries in DKIM KEYS section are showing "Verified" in the Status field, you are all set.  Here is an example of what that should look like:
It is highly recommended to create a DMARC record if you don't already have one in your DNS configuration.

If you don't have a DMARC value in your DNS please create one with the following settings:

*Replace "batscrm.com" with your domain name.

In addition to verified DKIM Keys, it is important that your organization's SPF records are correctly structured.  See this KB Article for SPF record information.
