Enable VoIP calling from BATS (Windows OS)

Enable VoIP calling from BATS (Windows OS)

BATS uses the built in Operating System (Windows/Mac) functionality to connect to your softphone application to make a call.  You have to configure your OS to use the correct softphone application on your computer (Vonage, 8x8, RingCentral, etc).  To do this on Windows 10 OS please follow these steps:
(For instructions on how to do this on a MacOS please see this article.)

  • Click on Windows button, type "Default App Settings" in the search line, then click on "Default App Settings" option:

  • In the windows that opens, click "Choose default apps by protocol":

  • In the next window that opens, scroll down until you see a line for "tel:".  Click on Choose a default" and then select your softphone application from the list:

  • In BATS, go to "Setup - System Settings - click on your company name", then type in "tel:" in the "VoIP Integration" field, then click "Save and Close" button:

Now when you click "VoIP call" button BATS will open your default telephony application and will dial the number automatically.
